Getting the sparkle back

Dr Neil's Garden

We began today by trying to go for a walk, but when we got out of the car and felt the full force of the wind, we all thought simultaneously that it wasn't a good day for a walk. So we retreated to Edinburgh, had lunch inside at L's in Duddingston Village and then went to Dr Neil's Garden, a lovely peaceful place on the banks of Duddingston Loch. It was created in 1965 by two GPs, Drs. Andrew and Nancy Neil whose practice was nearby. Here is a link to the website for the garden. It is now under threat as the National Trust for Scotland which has supported the garden for years will be withdrawing its funding at the end of next March, including the salary of the gardener Claudia Pottier, who with a number of volunteers manages the garden. Let's hope that another source of funding will be found.
