The (He)Art of the Cubicle

An interesting piece of grafitti for the blip today.

You usually expect to find grafitti on toilet walls in bus stations, student bars or grotty gig venues. But no, this little red heart was carefully drawn at some point today on the wall in one of the toilet cubicles at my work. They are relatively posh loos, a shared facility with other orgs in the building, plus any visitors - so have no idea who might have done it.

I found myself intrigued as to why someone coming into our building on business would find themselves compelled to so deliberately draw this wee heart (in nail polish?) on the wall. Were they overwhelmed with joy and love they needed to share it with the world? Is it a message to spread happiness? Make any occupant smile? Is it art?

Because of all that, I just couldn't find it within my heart to be annoyed about what is, essentially, an act of vandalism. Is there such a thing as pro-social vandalism? Could we/should we start a movement? Or has it already begun, and wee red hearts will be appearing on a wall near (very near) you...?
