Lamppost no. 7

Last year my middle boy exited from the school disco with a £5 voucher, his prize for winning 'best costume' with his oven. He looked up at the street lamp and decided there and then to recreate that for his next year's design.

And so, tonight, a year on, he went dressed as a lamp post. As you do.

The head teacher commented that it was the 'Salvador Dali' of Halloween costumes.

I am very proud of his kooky little mind for dreaming up the idea and his confidence to pull it off while most of his friends around were in shop bought scary outfits.

That said, I am also incredibly proud of my eldest boy who decided last week that he did not like Halloween or anything to do with it and opted, all on his own accord, to stay home and make some cakes instead. To have that confidence in who you are and what you feel comfortable doing and not doing at age 8 is quite something.

Oh and yes, the middle boy won the prize again - £5 voucher for the local toy shop - nice :)
