Bill Brandt

A recent book acquisition - Bill Brandt: Shadow and Light, with his great portrait of Francis Bacon on the front cover. The book was put together by Sara Hermanson Meister of the Museum of Modern Art in NY.

Bill Brandt was born in Germany, but spent much of his life in Great Britain. Unlike many famous photographers he didn't specialise or gravitate to one genre. He produced fabulous formal portraits, street portraits, landscapes and nudes.
