Hobbit hole

I went for the first time across to Jacketts Island just a two minute ride in an Argot 8 an amphibian tractor. Jacketts Island is tantalisingly close but the channel too deep to wade across. It has to be kept deep enough for small fishing boats etc.
I was with a group from St Peter Chanel Church as part of an annual clean up of the coast line organised by DoConservation. We went on the Argot to the far end of the island about a 10 minute ride then walked back picking up rubbish mostly drink bottles, styrofoam, plastic bags with the odd fence post and nails, tins and plastic plant pots. Not too much rubbish which is a sign people are not throwing it off their boats.
This is the underneath of a giant pinus radiata tree that has tipped over. There is a circle of stones underneath- a hobbits ritualisitic shrine or has a rabbit been playing chess?
