Another Year

The Club Hut

Tucked away in Upper Teesdale on the Cumbria/Durham border is a ski 'resort' run by the Harwood Ski Federation. It has a single rope tow, several hundred metres long, and 'pistes' back to the bottom.

At the moment it has some of the best skiing conditions for 30 years. Snow, several feet thick, is covering the whole of Upper Teesdale. I was up there skiing with my dad today. Not since I was a teenager in the 80's have the conditions been so good.

This is the Club Hut, tucked away in a little gully out of sight of the road. It's just as I remember it from the 80's. Nothing has changed - the red plastic chairs, the posters on the wall, the lunch table, the piste marker poles and the 'blood wagon' hung from the rafters. Fantastic! A real winter to remember again.
