The Crossing

The skies got ominously blacker and more stormy; the weather having turned as we journeyed from West Yorkshire which we left in glorious sunshine.

Arriving at the Ribblehead Viaduct seen in rather dismal conditions this afternoon was a bit of a disappointment as I'd hoped for some great light powering down through those twenty four arches spanning the River Ribble in North Yorkshire. At 400m long and taking one and a half million bricks to construct back in 1870 it is certainly an awesome sight.

We were lucky though with a local train making an unexpected crossing.

Spot Tilly and Poppy who were really relieved to be let out of their cage in the back of the car and who did enjoy the walk regardless of the weather!
