Great Western

Back-blip 5 of 6…..

Up at 06:00 to take the 2-hour drive to Torbay where daughter Danielle is performing at the National Baton Twirling Association National Finals. She and her Mum have been here all week with different events each day; solo, duets and team categories at various ages and abilities. So far she's been doing amazingly well with a fifth place, two seconds and three national titles in her solo routines so far. We're so proud.

There was time during the day to wander round Goodrington, along the beach and the adjacent railway station, where the Great Western steam train has been running throughout the summer season and now into the half-term holiday. While there were so many images that I could have blipped this one reminded me of a bygone age where holiday makers might have arrived by steam train, hired their beach-huts for the week and enjoyed the simple pleasures of a beach holiday in south Devon.

Anyway, enough dreaming, back to Bristol for band rehearsal as we're in the Wychavon Brand Band competition in Evesham tomorrow.
