Waiting for a treat

Today a good friend and I went for lunch at The Navigation in Ponders End, within Lee Valley Park. There are fields on the approach to the pub, in one of which are kept a number of horses. The field is marshy at the best of times and there is no shelter for these animals, so winter time is unpleasant to say the least. These horses receive little attention from their owner ( grooming unheard of as you see) but they don't go hungry as a number of people club together to purchase hay and - as we did today- take buckets of parsnips carrots and apples for them as a treat. the stuff you see on the ground is the stale bread the owner has delivered once a week.

Yes, people have called the RSPCA from time to time but they are kept just on the right side of neglect so they will not intervene.

For a complete change of mood - I have updated my journal about my granddaughter who can be seen here getting ready to greet the Tricker-or- Treaters who called on Halloween
