Apollo Bay

Backblip

We set off to Apollo Bay nice and early - we wanted to make it to the 12 Apostles but we wanted to check out what the status of the campsite was first. Breakfast was followed by a trip to tourist information who informed us that most of the previously free campgrounds around Apollo Bay are indeed now booking only and you need to pay... $35 a night! The fee for non-payers is North of $200 and that seemed like an expensive camp trip to us, so we jumped back into the car and raced back to the campground to move to Stevensons Falls - not far, and still free (but much, much busier!).

Whilst Esther, Miles and Gina had a nap, I was back in the car and down the road to Apollo Bay again to fill up with petrol... The Light had come on as we'd entered the Stevensons Falls and I knew that the closest petrol station was about 40km away. Thankfully it was mostly down hill, and I managed to coast 7km of that in neutral!!!! Quite a fun experience to be honest - gaining speed on the downhills to make it up the ups was great fun.

Safely back at camp, we went to Forrest microbrewery for a few pints, and then spent a very cold, wet night in the tent. We were thinking about bailing on another day of camping as the weather had just been terrible.
