A historical thriller

I don't normally read thrillers (because I don't have any liking for blood or violence) but this one was for the book group so I persevered with it. In fact, it was a historical novel as well as a thriller and I found it interesting from that point of view, a meticulously researched account of the tensions arising from mass Irish emigration to New York following the potato famine of the early 19th century.

The book was generally well received by members of the book group, most of whom like thrillers much more than I do!
