The Gallowhill, Moffat, Dumfriesshire

This woodland has been harvested in recent weeks and no longer exists in this form. There are only stumps and ruts of wet soil. The vegetation is growing slowly but surely with ferns, fungi and rowan trees competing with the weeds. The deer have returned and the squirrels are tucked away for the winter but the badgers are nowhere to be seen.Looking at the play of light on these trees remind me that everything is transient. Nothing stays the same and would we really want it to anyway?
