The village harbour

I shot this from a long way up this morning. All is quiet this year, but last autumn this harbour was a scene of activity. Ron Howard, the film director was over here shooting part of his new film "In the heart of the sea" which is due to be released next year in March. It's a rather macabre story about when the whaling ship, the Essex, in 1820 is stranded at sea for 90 days and what happened to the crew.

It was very exciting watching a ship being transformed into the Essex for it's part in the film and to see all the props and sets that were built in situ to accompany the actors and film crews. Some of the locals were taken on as extras or doubles. We are infrequent film goes but will be curious to see this film to pick out the bits that we recognise.
