High Tide!

Our last day in Venice and the highest of the Aqua Alta tides. After walking through from Fondamenti Nove we caught the vaporetto at San Zaccharia. People were having fun along the waters edge as the waves lapped over the pavement. Apparently St Marks Square and surrounds were impassible without wellies or plastic bags on your feet. After a coffee we spent some time on the south side of the canal looking for an exhibition by a Japanese printmaker (which we never found) and then walked along the edge of the island looking towards Giudecca (I managed a rather timeless photo of a man re-painting gondolas along one of the canals (Rio de S. Trovaso - I think) which was a very pleasant and new, to us, experience.

A late evening flight for us which went so smoothly and our lovely taxi driver was waiting in Manchester to drive us home. A day for photo sorting, laundry and relaxing - so no photo for the 8th.
