Orange on black

What is always a pleasure is the making of a photograph from nothing. I took the camera out this morning to try to find something in flower and did - but I spotted this tulip tree leaf floating in the pond and rather liked the result. I took several that I liked and will have to see is one of them is still there tomorrow! The tulip tree, btw, is Liriodendron tulipfera, a member of the magnolia family from eastern North America.

The flowers, usually needing more heat than we can provide, are shaped like a tulip, green and yellow and banded with orange. Our tree has flowered in the past and this year I noticed a flower bud back in September, but it was too late to open, I think
