The Patina of Mexico

OneDavid said my blip yesterday was the Patina of Poverty (See my blip for the actual comment). He caused me to reflect whether the distinctive Mexican colors are truly statements of poverty. Well, yes, on the one hand because for many local people lifestyles are pretty basic. But no, on the other hand, when people are adequately nourished, have basic housing, access to education and the means of production (for example, a fishing boat). Still, without a doubt, Mexicans are fond of color and to represent them monochromatically would not feel right for me.
