"Silky oak" (Grevillea robusta)

Grevillea robusta, commonly known as the silky oak, is not closely related to the true oaks.

It is a native of eastern and coastal Australia and does very well in our area. It is a fast-growing evergreen tree, between 18–35 m (59–115 ft) tall, with dark green delicately dented leaves reminiscent of a fern frond. Definitely not a tree for your home garden.
