This is a rhinoceros beetle, the strongest beetle in the world. This pic was taken in my backyard this arvo. We now know that the wet season is just around the corner when all different and quite large but not quite as big as this one, beetles start coming to visit us, perfectly harmless but can sometimes give you a fright if they fly near you whilst you aren't looking. My dog loves to play with them but gets a little nervous when they hiss, yes they hiss, only air but can be a little scary for my little Shitzu. :-)
