... is part of Curriculum for Excellence in Scottish education and today in the school where I help out some mornings, Questra came into class with her trainer so that the children could learn about seeing dogs for the blind.

She is a cross between a Labrador and a Golden Retriever and is one year old. She has been with her current owner since she was a five-week-old pup and after being house trained and learning that when she is wearing her coat, she is working, she is now going off to begin more specific training to be a guide dog.

The children were very interested to hear how exactly she would be trained and how she would help her new owner and how expensive it is to provide guide dogs for those who need them for various reasons (around £50,00 per year). They had also prepared some very interesting questions to ask the trainer. A good morning all round.
