House Pecker

I was dawdling behind on our walk aiming camera at possible blips and didn't notice the dogs had already gone back into the house. I was busy trying to force a composition shot in the gold sunlight of the bird bath at the front door.

Decided to put camera down and just take in the autumn glow for a bit. Then I saw him overhead. This beautiful Flicker (wood pecker) had been on my roof all the time !
