'Blue Tongue Lizard'

My last proper day of holidays today, and after dropping the kids at school this morning MsMun and I headed out to a local Nursery / Cafe as I hadn't had any breakfast yet. I had Moroccan poached eggs which was very nice.

Stopped off at our local Mitre 10 hardware store for some paint to start painting our house fascias. Luckily the colour we wanted was a standard collarbone colour and the paint was already premixed and waiting on the shelf.

Got home and started to paint at the front of the house, came in for lunch and then it wasn't long before we had to head back to the school as Dylan and two other classmates had decided to arrange and perform a piece of music on clarinet & saxophone for their PE teacher who is getting married tomorrow. It was a surprise performance for her and the tears flowed. I think she was very humbled by the kids thoughtfulness and generosity. They did a brilliant job too.

I helped move a few trestle tables down from the community room to the main office in readiness for this Sunday's working bee and sausage sizzle, then the kids had a bit of a play in the playground while the adults had a chat.

When we arrived home this afternoon, our next door neighbour Kathy came over with her three grandchildren to play with Dylan and Bella for a bit. While on the trampoline the girls spotted this blue tongue lizard. Funny, I was just discussing these guys with a friend a few weeks back on blip saying that I had never seen any in our garden in 10 years since we've lived here and then this one turns up. Kathy also said that she had seen 2 snakes around her yard in the last couple of weeks (although it might have been the same one spotted on two separate occasions). We will have to keep our eyes out as they are most likely to be the very venomous Brown Snakes, not one that you want to muck around with.

I think we might have found ourselves a new pet for a while. We've brought it inside and put in in one of our old aquariums for now.
