The Kelpies

Went with T and L on a Photo Shoot to the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies in Falkirk today. Lots of shots between us which will probably reach Flickr sometime next week - meanwhile here's my choice for today's blip. L is on the left taking one of her favourite shots.

The Kelpies are 30-metre high horse-head sculptures (there are two of them), standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal in Scotland. They were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and opened to the public in April 2014. Scott used the shape-shifting horse-like water spirit which haunts the rivers and burns of Scotland as the inspiration for this socio-historical monument intended to celebrate the horse’s role in industry and agriculture as well as the obvious association with the canals as tow horses.
