Tea and OXJAM

I met up with a couple of friends in the lovely Barker Tea House in High Street Arcade, one of the Victorian arcades in Cardiff, this afternoon.

And while it was busy, it was blissfully free from any jingly bells or festive frippery. An oasis in the madness that is taking hold outside.

The three of us went onto the Urban Tap House for the Back of the Pub Poetry Club, part of the Oxjam festival. It was a great chance to catch up with some writer pals, while listening to other poets read or perform their work.

And by the time the event ended, nearly everyone outside had gone home and I had a peaceful walk back to the car, admiring the pretty lights of the German market that seems to have set up around St John's Church and wishing I'd taken the bus instead, so that I could have had a warming glass of Glühwein.
