Oldenburg

The meeting does not start until late morning, so I got up early and had a wander around the old town centre of Oldenburg. There was a thin fog all around, and in the centre, a pedestrian area, it was eerily quiet, with very few people walking around. There are thousands of people on bicycles and you need to be alert to avoid a collision with bikes flying in from every direction. The old town centre is nice, but quite small, and the surrounding 'new' town, which of course has all been built since 1945 and is 'modern', blocky, and quite bland. I enjoyed walking around the old town centre.
