Avendale Old

Built in 1879 replacing an earlier kirk, St Mary's built in 1772.

The square exterior has changed little over the years and is now a listed building.

The church bell is the original St Mary's bell and was cast in Edinburgh in 1750--thirty nine years before the French Revolution!

The church was fortunate to receive lottery funding to improve the exterior including new railings and lighting, pity the night perspective is spoilt by the orange glare of the security light.
