Our last day in Hawaii

We had a long but meaningful day. We got up early and took the kids swimming at the beach for a couple of hours. They had plain, uninhibited fun jumping in the ocean and pretending to swim.

Then we headed back to our condo to wash up and pack up. We had to be out by noon. We then went over and gave our extra groceries to the friend of ours that we rented the condo from. He and his family happened to come in the night after we came...cool coincidence.

So to burn the day we drove North on the Kohala Coast to see if we could find anything interesting. The boys rested in the back, as we checked out a few spots we might want to hit next time.

Hapuna Beach is a fantastic, sandy beach if you ever visit the Kona area. It's a bit discouraging since most of the beaches are rocky lava beds, but Hapuna Beach is pure, white sand. Very nice.

We had heard of a place called Kiholo Bay (a black sand beach), but the walk was tremendous. We had the time, so we decided to hike the 1/2 hour it took to get down there.

The wind was blowing incredibly hard, so we had a hard time enjoying the area. I'm sad that we didn't read more about the area so we would have known what to look for because we missed all the cool stuff.

Here's a shot (killing my lens I'm sure) that I got while down at Kiholo Bay. It was a major walk with 2 little boys, but we managed to do it and time to spare before our flight.
