Twiddlemuff

This is pal and colleague Nazia modelling knitting club's latest project, and the first of what we hope will be many, the Twiddlemuff. The idea was passed on to me by airedaleknitter (thank you J) who had received the request from Bradford Teaching Hospitals. The Twiddlemuff will be used by patients with dementia and they 'have been designed and developed to provide simple stimulation for active hands, while promoting increased flexibility and brain stimulation. Many patients with dementia have found the Twiddlemuff reassuring and comforting.'

They are very simple to knit, knit a row, purl a row and made up of oddments of wool of different textures. When finished you sew buttons, beads and ribbons on the inside and the outside for twiddling. They are also great for warming cold hands! If I have sold you on them and you would like the pattern, e-mail me at wendy.carlyle@btinternet.com. As for our twiddlemuffs, a couple will be going to colleagues who have requested them for parents and the rest will be sent to the hospital.
