Same Oak as Yesterday

There were hints of blue sky from late morning and the sun threatened to come out. When at last I thought it was going to break through, it was already past 3pm with sunset less than an hour away.

I'd wanted to go back to get a similar shot to yesterday's effort, but using the camera on a tripod. I didn't really need to have bothered. This tree lies in a small valley and the sun was already below the horizon. Mist had already begun to gather.

Am mystified as to why the photographer in Iceland advocated using smallest aperture for landscapes when you can quite clearly see that if you get the nearer oak leaves in focus, the oak tree itself is soft. He never mentioned hyperfocal distance. Perhaps he thought it would confuse the punters.

All was not entirely lost today. I finished putting together the panto programme and sent it off for proof reading. Then had a good sing at the Leicester Bach Choir rehearsal. Massed classical choirs of Leicester to join the Bardi Orchestra in a performance of Dream of Gerontius next October. Messiah end of next week.
