Petersfield Physic Garden

Petersfield Physic Garden, just off the main street, is a fascinating place. The walled garden in the centre of Petersfield was gifted to Hampshire Gardens Trust in 1988 by Major John Brown. It’s inspired by 17thCentury herb gardens and some shapes echo the past, the knot garden for instance. Just as then, healing herbs are still grown here. They often have small quantities of produce for sale, Jerusalem artichokes I had once, and slate plant markers etc. Today there was a pottery exhibition indoors, quite well attended though the day was dull and rather drear. The garden is still a little oasis in the centre of town, and even today there were a couple of people eating a sandwich and reading a book. What a great facility to have.
