Before and After

I think this is a Victorian inkwell, it was given to me years ago by A. Rose and I'm ashamed to say I have only just got round to cleaning it. It was very tarnished, so I used a very old fashioned method of cleaning. In a bowl put a piece of tinfoil, add a teaspoon of salt and enough hot water to cover the item, leave for a little while and the tarnish lifts off and you are left with nice shiny silver.

Golf today, freezing cold at 7.30am 4 deg C, it got a little warmer, some hardy soles (visitors) wore shorts!!
