Yet another morning...

.. on the ranges., and this morning the trees had virtually disappeared into the mist. However, I had seen this rather nice piece of burnt wood with some fungus on it on my previous visits, and having found it again, settled down to take a few focus stacks.

Back at the computer, I managed to get Photoshop to stack it first time ... but it took a long time running its computations. So while I was waiting, I hit the reference books to find that it is a fairly common fungus with the very apt name of Candle-snuff fungus (Xylaria hypoxylon)
