A Peep Thru the Pinhole

Tewkesbury Abbey

I met a couple of friends for lunch in Tewkesbury today, but prior to eating we had a wander around the abbey grounds and interior. I am always amazed at the work that must go into these ancient abbeys, cathedrals, churches in the UK, and it was in this context that I recommended that my friends, Elaine and Adrian, read "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It's a fascinating tale of interwoven stories of relationships, harmonious and otherwise, intrigue and skulduggery, all set against the backdrop of the building of an 11th Century cathedral. If that sounds boring to you, be assured - it isn't. Follett weaves a magical thread against a well-researched historical background.
