Devil's Porridge

The Devil's Porridge Museum at East Riggs. This is the site of the UK's largest munitions factory during WWI where thousands of tonnes of cordite were produced over a massive site that employed 30,000 workers at its height. Today there's precious little evidence of what went on there, save photos and a few artefacts. That's not a lot of material for a museum, but it's nicely done and made for an interesting hour or so on the way home.

It was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who came up with the moniker - a reference to the texture of the cordite and the very real danger involved in working with it.
