Dining at the Governor's residence

Suffolk House was built in 1805, the same year as the Battle of Trafalgar.
It served as the Governor's residence and subsequently as Government House.
Latterly it fell into complete disrepair and has just been rescued by a consortium of local benefactors, both individuals and companies.
It is now a beautiful building, part museum and part restaurant and function room. It is also the favourite spot for photographs of bride and groom for the wedding album.
We had lunch there on the first floor shaded terrace, marvelous, as I hope you can imagine!
A Channel 4 drama about life in India under the Raj has just been filmed there, for showing starting in January, it might be worth a look...
