Room with a view

It was the Brownie's trip to the Institute of Astronomy this evening so I offered to take Sal and two of her buddies. University departments have a certain feel to them....it's hard to describe properly but it's one of detachment from real life....like they all live in the security of the University bubble. I like this.

Anyway, we learnt about planets, stars, constellations and galaxies before heading out to look at Andromeda through the Northumberland Telescope....the biggest and most advanced telescope of its type.....back in 1846. Some of the girls were lucky enough to see the 'fuzzy splodge' others just saw blackness....all were equally excited.
