The Eternal flame, Kings Park

I was at the Kings Park War Memorial in Perth today.This flame has been burning since it was lit in 2000 from a flame taken from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The flame is set in a circular pool, slightly raised above the surrounding courtyard, and bears the inscriptions LET SILENT CONTEMPLATION BE YOUR OFFERING on one side and LEST WE FORGET on the other.

This is also my very first attempt at a panorama – made by stitching four pictures together. It’s not perfect – next time I will use a tripod! But I am pleased with it none- the-less!
