Tystie

Today there was beautiful sunshine down at Scapa Bay. This tystie, or black guillemot, was one of about six near the pier. It is in winter plumage, which is very different from their summer look. Also there: several guillemots, long-tailed ducks, turnstones, redshanks, red-breasted mergansers, a raven overhead, and four Slavonian grebes. Also six common seals mooching about in the calm waters.
