Great black cormorant,

black shag, Kawau, Phalacrocorax carbo.

Had coffee and a nibble sitting in the car down at Andersons Bay Inlet. Fabulous day filled with dazzling sun, clear blue sky dotted with cotton-wool clouds and a light sea breeze ruffling the water.

This cormorant flew in and had a bath in the shallow water near where we ha parked before choosing a rock nearby to preen and dry off his feathers. Love the patterning of the wing feathers. Just as we were about to leave the first Royal spoonbill flew in for a feed along the waters edge. So summer must be nearby.....

(if you want to see a top notch movie go see "What We Did On Our Holiday. Brilliant in every way. I wish my grandfather was like Billy Connolly's character. Full of laughs, human failings and frailties and a strong sense of the use of improvisation to give wings to the sensitive issues dealt with within the story line. Will definitely go and see it again. Fab fab fab).
