Child Play

Here is what I choose to retain of Thanksgiving day: cousins at play on the wide porch of Jimmy and Margaret's house. This was the only moment still enough to capture all four. Play lingers in their demeanors...and togetherness. The taste of freedom is briefly shared with the camera. Oh I took many shots of the action, but the play of light was as challenging as the constant motion. The children were truly running wild in contrast to the after dinner reserve of adults inside. Yet no one stopped their joy. Even when things got rough, this was obviously an agreed upon element. Love was always evident in the struggle for power, and the bond was recognized by those inside who could recall the holidays long past...when they were the children whose antics were smiled upon and acceptable.
