Black Friday Hike

We had no intention of going near the museums or shopping malls because of the crowds, so instead we headed for the hills. We drove about 30 minutes north to Sugarloaf Mountain, where we could hike one of the trails and burn off excess Thanksgiving calories. We chose a 5 mile trail which we surely thought we would be able to finish in 1 1/2 hours or so. We set off about 12:15 and did not get back to our car until 3:45. If we had started any later, we would have been finishing up in the dark. We had really underestimated the difficulty of the trail which took us to three different summits. This image, taken early in the hike shows my husband and future daughter-in-law who still have some spring to their step. We had not anticipated the number of climbs and descents over very rocky steep trails and were quite the sad sacks by the end of the hike. Our two lawyers sons were unable to join us as they were on the phone and at their computers all day, from my dining room table. Corporate law doesn’t seem to be very sensitive to “family holidays.”

This is the first time I did not post my blip before midnight and instead succumbed to overwhelming exhaustion.
