The triumph of hope over experience (part 1)

I always buy these, and it always turns out to have been a mistake.

The buds usually stay on just long enough to make me think that maybe this year they will open instead of plopping off, one at a time onto the window sill.

And then that's exactly what they do.

The label said I should keep it in a warm place, so it's in the sitting room this time. I always thought they needed to be kept cool, so maybe that's what I was doing wrong.
