Shrewsbury Town 1 - 0 Burton Albion

Our annual cousins' do tonight but before that the shopping for the buffet supper. We had a budget of £44.00 and were delighted that the final bill came to £43.93. We helped set up the house for the evening then went to meet Margaret and Ian for lunch as a prelude to going to the Meadow to watch Shrewsbury play Burton in a League 2 match.

This was an important game, with Burton second in the division and Shrewsbury 4th. This shot was of the kick-off, the player in the foreground being the one that scored the winner in the 85th minute.

It was a good game, with plenty of skill and excitement but always tight as both teams wanted to win, but neither wanted to lose. It looked like it might end up stalemate until Shrewsbury popped one at the death. Then it was a case of hanging on in for the remaining 5 minutes of normal time 4 minutes of added time before the ref blew the final whistle. Shrewsbury made it difficult for themselves and their fans with some inept passing and poor choices which led you to think Burton might just sneak in an equaliser. Fortunately they did not and Shrewsbury hung on to claim the 3 points and leapfrog over Burton into 3rd place in the division and into the automatic promotion spot. But there is a long way to go in the season yet.

It was a very enjoyable evening get together with the cousins. Seven out of the 11 were there, we talked over old times, about our parents and how we all used to do these sorts of get togethers when we were young. People were very pleased with the buffet and the efforts we had made and they all went home with a doggy bag.
