John Grant

I'm all wrung out.

Up to take girls swimming at 830, home and then out again for a little trip to North Berwick.

Then out again to see the utterly wonderful John Grant.

He's on tour with the Northern Sinfonia.

We've been looking forward to it for aaaages. Alas, pair of chumps wot we are, we neglected to double check the running order and blithely presumed that a 730 start didn't actually mean that. But it did, and we missed the first two songs. Pah.

We were way up in the Gods and right at the back but the sound was still great and we were blown away by the sheer marvellousness of the whole thing. It's times like these when you have to acknowledge that human beings are (mostly) amazing aren't they/we? To be able to bring a complex collection of instrumental pieces together so it becomes an whole actual thing that not only sounds fantastic but makes you feel all uplifted and overwhelmed at the same time.

We were, as you will gather, very impressed. I think I'm actually a little bit in love. Mr M doesn't mind. I think he's in love too :)

You must all go and see him. I insist.
