Rose in December

Although today was as usual very busy, I managed to find time for a little walk around Tiptree for half an hour. Given that it's now a chilly December day, I was surprised to find this single tiny wild rose still blooming tenaciously at the corner of a side road. Looking for some blip-inspiration, I stumbled upon a charming and aptly-named song from a band I hadn't heard of before called Halestorm.

Dad's still waiting for a bed to become available at the Royal Brompton Hospital so that he can be transferred there for some minor keyhole surgery. The ward sister in Colchester told us today that he's very stable and well enough to undergo the journey and the surgery. The infection looks as if it's well on the way out with the strong antibiotics he's been having intravenously, and the sister said that his blood clot is also responding to the medication.
