Boat trip to Siem Reap

Up at a ridiculous 6am, I packed up and headed to the boat which would take me slowly along the river to Siem Reap. The 8 hour journey was significantly longer than going by bus but I'd been told it was worth it. There was rarely a moment without a small fishing village or larger floating village to keep you occupied. The most impressive sights were of huge fishing contraptions made of bamboo, pivoting and finely balanced to make it easy to lift the massive nets out of the water, funneling small fish in to a pot at the base. A family lived on each of these rafts.

If the journey had been only 4 hours, it would have been perfect but near the end I was really looking forward to a nice bed to catch up on some sleep.
