Preesall Sands

Today's the day ..................... to go to the end

It felt a bit like the end of the earth - but it was actually Knott End-on-sea.

It is situated on the coast at Morecambe Bay, where the River Wyre enters the estuary across from Fleetwood. Of course, this is a strange view for us altogether because we are looking north at the Heysham Power Station. Normally, we have to look southwards to see it - and followers of Arnside and Beyond's wonderful journal will have seen it in some of his pictures with the sun setting behind it. Here, the last rays of the setting sun are just lighting it up from the other direction.

There was not a cloud in the sky - and this lone beachcomber really did look like the last person on earth ......................
