The Right Kind of Water

We took advantage of the nice weather today and went to Thryburgh Country Park, between Rotherham and Doncaster. The main feature is a lake so it is a good place for waterfowl. Grebes in particular do well here, and we saw lots of Great-crested Grebe and Little Grebe like this one. We also got our first proper views this winter of Redwing and Fieldfare, even though numbers were small. Another relative rarity was Tree Sparrows. We saw 31 species in all. It was pretty cold, and although we were warmly dressed, it was nice to go in the Lakeside Cafe for a late lunch and a hot drink.
