Contrast

Very much liked the opaqueness of the splash and its shapes against the green algae covering the rock.

Buster showed up at the outfall this morning and cruised down the shore, rolling in the waves, but didn't haul out. We were so concentrating on Buster that we didn't notice Kea hauling ashore on the rocks. He headed pretty much straight for the naupaka plants and settled in. Checked again about 2:30 in the afternoon and he had moved back down to the rocks, sleeping peacefully.
But we learned today that a baby monk seal had been clubbed to death on Kauai. Tragic and senseless violence against an animal who cannot protect itself. Who would do this? And how do you live with yourself afterwards?
