Terracotta Town & Random Moon Shot

Altrincham is quite an amazing small town in South Manchester. Dating back to the Domesday Book and reaching it's peak about 100 years ago, it still contains many clues to its former greatness BUT only if you look up! My collage today shows examples of some of the finest terracotta faced buildings. Look above the shop/restaurant line in the main street through Altrincham and you will see the sort of architecture portrayed here. Sadly the town has seen better days and many of these buildings are tired and a bit run down but I found this very interesting insight as to how Altrincham ended up with so many terracotta faced buildings. Click HERE to find out why Altrincham used to be called Broun Town. Oh and the random moon shot is to show the power of the Canon PowerShot SX50HS. It may only be a humble bridge camera but I think you will agree it carries quite a punch!

PS - notice the motto for Altrincham shown bottom right of the collage -Pax et Abundantia - Peace & Prosperity - nice one!

PPS - I have just noticed the initials JHB in the bottom middle photo of the collage referring of course to the John Henderson Brown mentioned in the link above. He certainly knew how to make his mark!
