A different angle

I did a little work with some lawyers (research work, nothing personal or problematic) this morning, at a solicitors firm with premises just off Rutland Square, overlooking the Western Approach Road. A magnificent view, looking north, across the rooftops and chimney pots of the West End of Edinburgh, with the 56m Venetian campanile of the former St George's West church dominating the skyline (visible on the far left hand side of this wonderful aerial photo, which also shows the defunct Caledonian station). In other directions from the same vantage point you could see St Mary's Cathedral with Corstorphine Hill behind, and one building with a dome at the end of Princes Street that I ought to be able to identify, but cannot. If I worked up there on the 7th floor, I'd get nothing done. The only negative side was having to take photographs through a tinted glass window, which is why I decided to go bw.

Something of the story of St George's West can be read here.

A seminar, meetings and another video interview in the afternoon. An inaugural lecture and a convivial dinner in the evening.
